Join us Saturday, Nov. 18 from 11am - 1pm at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. This workshop is free to attend, please register below.
Trauma comes in many forms. It could be the small accumulations of daily stress or a major shock of life-changing proportion, such as the recent Lahaina wildfires.
Big or small, if trauma becomes trapped in the body and mind before it can be resolved, it can cause persistent maladaptive changes long after the initial shock to the system. This disruption to your body’s natural rhythms and function can lie at the root of many of our most challenging health issues, including dysregulated sleep.
The simple gift of a restful, healing night’s sleep can be one of the most powerful ways our bodies and minds resolve shock and trauma when it occurs. Yet the negative patterning loop of bound trauma can dramatically affect your ability to rest and sleep deeply. To let go and return to balance, we must recognize where it has become trapped and understand how to apply effective tools for releasing it.
Osteopathy is a field of medicine where the doctor's hands engage with the physical body as a way to both cure illness and unlock what has become stuck within the body, mind, and spirit. From that perspective, we’ll be sharing techniques that can help address the destabilizing anxiety, depression, and disconnection trauma often causes, with a particular focus on better sleep.
Here’s a preview of some of what will be shared:
Letting go of the shock created by traumatic life events such as the recent Lahaina wildfires
Techniques for reducing insomnia and sleeping more restfully
Rebalancing an overactive “fight or flight” response
Understanding the importance of sleep in healing the mind and body
Integrating holistic exercises like Tai Chi, self-massage, and mindful breathing
Throughout this informational and interactive workshop, you will gain valuable tools for finding deep rest and more harmony within your body and mind. We hope you’ll join us and look forward to meeting you!
